AUSTRALIA’S PREMIERE OPERA DECTET, THE TEN TENORS, TO SPREAD HOLIDAY CHEER AT THE WHEELER ON CHRISTMAS DAY
Aspen, CO (Dec 13, 2016): Australia’s rock stars of opera - The Ten Tenors - will let their incomparable vocals soar during a special Christmas Day show at the Wheeler Opera House on Sunday, December 25 at 6:30 PM. Entitled “Home for the Holidays”, the concert will feature a unique selection of traditional and contemporary seasonal favorites like “Joy to the World,” “Sleigh Ride,” “White Christmas, “Amazing Grace,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Feliz Navidad” and many more. Tickets are $40- $65 and are available now at the Wheeler Opera House Box Office (970.920.5770/ aspenshowtix.com). The Wheeler Opera House is located at 320 E. Hyman Ave., Aspen, CO.
Following 17 years of sell-out performances across the globe, including more than 2,000 of their own headline concerts, The Ten Tenors have cemented their place as one of the world’s most loved classically based contemporary music groups. Celebrated for their wonderfully vast repertoire, breathtaking arrangements and powerful live performances, The Ten Tenors respectfully tip their hats not only to the great classical tenors and composers, but also contemporary music’s most popular artists. The group has even performed alongside countless music legends including Andrea Bocelli, André Rieu, Keith Urban, Rod Stewart, Alanis Morissette, Sarah Brightman, and Christina Aguilera.
“Our overall vision for the show was to create a feeling of comfort and warmth for a family gathering,” says producer D-J Wendt. “We wanted people to feel that, although they were in a theatre, they could be as relaxed as they would be in their living room at home; with a fire gently burning and friends and family all catching up.”
Wendt continues, “This sounded like a no-brainer to us but for one thing; we are from Australia and Christmas for us is traditionally the hottest time of the year, spent largely in the pool or at the beach doing whatever we can to stay cool. Through our lives, however, we have enjoyed many a northern hemisphere Christmas, so we could draw on those experiences to set about designing the show and selecting the repertoire.”
Scott Muller, a long-serving member of The Ten Tenors says, “Often, men will turn up to a show, having been dragged by their wives, arms folded, thinking they’re going to watch us croon to the ladies and serve up yet another watery classical-crossover show. Not too far into the show, they realize we are a group of down-to-earth Aussie blokes, that have power and guts in our performance and they leave not only pleasantly surprised, but fans themselves.”
