THEATRE ASPEN EDUCATION ESTABLISHES NEW SUMMER HEADQUARTERS
THEATRE EDUCATION PROGRAMS FIND A NEW HOME AT ASPEN COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Aspen, Colorado (April 20, 2018) – Theatre Aspen Producing Director Jed Bernstein announced today that the Aspen Community School will serve as the new headquarters for all of Theatre Aspen’s summer education programs June through August 2018.
Aspen Community School, located in Woody Creek, will provide classroom, rehearsal, and outdoor recreation space for all of Theatre Aspen’s summer programs for students K-12. Theatre Aspen will offer optional bus service from Aspen or the Bush Creek/Highway 82 Intercept Lot to the Aspen Community School campus.
Bernstein commented, “Centering all of our education activities in one location for the summer will provide great opportunities for students and teachers alike. This is a great example of non-profit organizations in Aspen coming together in a productive way that will help each institution. Working with the Community School team is such a privilege.”
Of the partnership, Theatre Aspen’s Director of Education and Outreach Graham Northrup said, “Having our headquarters at the School lets us offer more classes that will be more attractive to parents, teachers, and students. The School’s picturesque setting and expansive outdoor area is helping us embrace Aspen’s ‘mind, body, spirit’ ethos in our education programs.”
Michael Hayes, Executive Director of Compass for Lifelong Discovery and the Aspen Community School said, “We are thrilled to share our campus with Theatre Aspen and to support bringing high quality theatre education programming to youth in the Roaring Fork Valley. “
Theatre Aspen’s education programs enhance creative impulses and strengthen collaborative skills through various theatre arts. Students explore acting, dancing, technical theatre, and more through multi-day classes and productions. Sibling and multi-class discounts as well as scholarships are available: no student has ever been turned away from a Theatre Aspen education program due to financial need.
