A New Generation of Magic Comes to the Wheeler with Broadway and TV Illusionist Adam Trent
Aspen, CO (December 21, 2016): He’s performed to sold out Broadway houses. He’s been seen on countless televisions shows. Now, the rock star of the magic world, Adam Trent, will help round out the calendar year at the Wheeler Opera House with two performances of his “Next Generation of Magic” show on Thursday, December 29 at 4:30 and 7:30 PM. Tickets are $32- $42 and are available now at the Wheeler Opera House Box Office (970.920.5770/ aspenshowtix.com). The Wheeler Opera House is located at 320 E. Hyman Ave., Aspen, CO.
Perhaps known best as one of the stars of the hit Broadway sensation “The Illusionists,” (which shattered box office records during it’s 2014-15 run), Trent is one of the most in demand illusionists working today. In addition to the Great White Way, he’s appeared on a variety of television shows and networks including on “Good Morning America,” “America’s Got Talent,” Disney Channel, ABC, VH1, Rachel Ray, Travel Channel, and SyFy.
Described as Justin Timberlake meets David Copperfield, Adam Trent’s audience interactive performances are part magic, part concert, and part stand up comedy, with a fast paced variety necessary for today’s theatre audience. Approaching his craftiness with a tongue and cheek attitude allows him to connect with people who normally hate magic shows. He promises that audiences will leave his show feeling differently than they expected to feel after a magic show.
“What comes to mind when you think of a ‘Magician?’” ponders Trent. “Is it a guy who makes awkward dance movements and tells stale jokes while torturing women in wooden boxes? Until recently, this has been a sobering reality of people’s stereotype of magicians.
“’I’ve always thought that magic should be entertaining first and tricky second,” he continues. “I don’t want people to remember just the “tricks”, but also the laughs and the memories that were made.”
In addition to his regular TV appearances and staggering schedule of over 300 live shows each year, Trent has a vast history of philanthropic work for which US News & World Report Magazine named him one of the “10 Most Influential Youths in America.”
