One of the biggest differences that set us apart from many mountain resorts is our rich history! Want to know a bit about the mining days? Or the wild west? Or how the WW2 was influential in making Aspen, Aspen? Follow our tips below and find out! 





10 am:   Hike the Hunter Creek Loop starting on the Hunter Creek Trail and connecting back up with Smuggler Mountain Road for the downhill portion of the loop. This will bring you past the historic Smuggler Mine at the base of Smuggler Mountain Road just before you finish up your hike.  

12 pm:  Enjoy lunch at the Hotel Jerome’s historic J-Bar or their fine dining restaurant, Prospect.

1: 30- 2:30 pm: Take an Aspen Historical Society tour of the Hotel Jerome. $15/$12 (Seniors), free for Children under 12. Tuesdays and Thursdays Only. On Wednesday’s enjoy the free tour of the Wheeler Opera House.

4 pm: The Aspen Historical Society's Wheeler-Stallard Museum and Holden Marolt Mining Museum are both wonderful options to spend the afternoon glancing back in time at the good old days in Aspen.

6 pm: Catch a show at the historic Wheeler Opera House, Aspen’s favorite year-round performance venue for concerts, movies, festivals, lectures, community events, opera and more.  

9 pm: Meander into Justice Snow's, the hip and historic restaurant and bar, adjacent to the Wheeler Opera House.
