“America’s ‘folk opera’” returns to the Met for the first time since 1990 in a new production starring AMFS alumnus Eric Owens as the disabled beggar Porgy and Angel Blue as the drug-addicted Bess. David Robinson conducts a stellar cast including Denyce Graves and AMFS alumna Golda Schultz in a new production directed by James Robinson. Infused with timeless melodies like “Summertime” and “I Got Plenty o’ Nuttin,” the new co-production was hailed as a triumph at its London premiere in Fall 2019.
