The town of Aspen beams with holiday cheer in December with Christmas lights and holiday decorations throughout downtown, various events and more, just a few of the reasons why Aspen was recently named America’s best town for the holidays by Travel + Leisure. The annual Sardy House Christmas Tree Lighting marks the official kick off for the holidays in Aspen. The free event takes place December 6 from 6-7 p.m. Guests can enjoy hot cocoa, cookies, music from the Aspen Middle School Band, and a guest appearance from Santa.
Aspen Highlands, also known as the locals’ mountain, and Buttermilk’s opening day is set for Saturday, December 12, allowing visitors and locals to experience the Power Of Four for the rest of the winter season.
December 22- January 2

During the 12 Days of Aspen, charming downtown Aspen becomes a winter wonderland of holiday cheer. Free ice skating, visits with Santa – and Santa's reindeer, s'more-making parties, art, ornament-making, and stocking-decorating workshops for kids, 12 Days of Après, and much more for kids and adults.
