Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES)

ACES is celebrating 50 years of educating environmental responsibility in the Roaring Fork Valley. In classrooms, on trails, at ski mountains, and at ACES' sites, the staff bring to life the wonder of the natural world in and around Aspen. With four locations in the Roaring Fork Valley, ACES offers a wide variety of opportunities to learn about the environment year-round for children and adults of all ages. The 50th anniversary celebration includes special programming throughout the year with a special anniversary celebration event scheduled July 11, 2019. 

Aspen Ideas Festival

Speakers for this year's Aspen Ideas Festival will include: former president of Mexico Vicente Fox Quesada, the founder of Craigslist.org Craig Newmark, musician Common, and pro basketball Player Kevin Love. 

Aspen Music Festival & School

Regarded as one of the top classical music festivals in the United States, Aspen Music Festival & School will celebrate its 70th anniversary this summer, as well as a school with more than 600 classical music students from around the country and the world. The eight-week summer season includes more than 400 classical music events spanning from late June to mid-August - including concerts by orchestras, solo and chamber music performances, master classes, lectures, and children's programming.

Bauhaus100: Aspen

2019 is the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus. To celebrate the history of the Bauhaus in Aspen, a nine-month schedule of activities (Jan. – Aug. 2019) orchestrated by various organizations from the Aspen Institute to Anderson Ranch Art Center, to the Aspen Historical Society,  Aspen Art Museum, and many others is occurring. Events include activities during the 2019 Aspen Ideas Festival, an Aspen Institute symposium from Aug. 6 – 9, an exhibit at the Aspen Historical Society of Herbert Bayer’s works, regular tours of the Aspen Institute Herbert Bayer collection, art exhibitions and more. Bauhaus artist Herbert Bayer designed the Aspen Institute’s campus which includes Bayer sculpture’s, landworks, tapestries, paintings, photography and more. In addition, other Bauhaus designers impacted modern Aspen.

Chef's Club Presents: Park90+ Chef Tom Coohill

This summer Chefs Club presents a collaboration between Park90 and Chef Tom Coohill of Denver's acclaimed Coohills Restaurant. The pop-up food and wine bar & lounge offers majestic patio seating, a Chefs Counter that showcases a view of the open kitchen, a staggering list of 90+ rated wines, and Chef Tom Coohill's French Influenced fare. 
Not to miss: Chef Tom's award-winning blue crab cakes. 
Menu: Shared boards, tasting menus, and a selection of house-made pâtés, sausages, seafood terrines, breads, and more. 

JAS Aspen Snowmass June Experience

The JAS Aspen Snowmass June Experience recently announced changes to the 2019 format. The event will focus on programming multiple smaller venues and a greater variety of artists and genres across four days. The venues will host staggered performances that allow attendees the opportunity to hear multiple artists in a single day/night/weekend. 

New Restaurant Openings

OPENING JUNE 2019: Almresi Aspen is a new European-alpine style restaurant in the Dancing Bear Mountainside building. 
NEW. Scarlett's recently opened in downtown Aspen serving brunch, lunch and dinner. The menu includes options such as avocado toast, quinoa and poke bowls, burgers and more. The new restaurant's outdoor patio boasts great views of Aspen Mountain and is enclosed with plants for a "living wall" concept. (515 E. Hopkins Ave.)
NEW. The co-owners of the restaurant Bonito in St. Barth opened a new restaurant called Betula in downtown Aspen over the winter season. The restaurant blends French and Pan American cuisine. (525 E. Cooper Ave.)
NEW. Entrepreneurs Alan and Jennifer Giaquinto are planning to open two restaurants in downtown Aspen.  The street-level operation, Tatanka, is described as a "Western bistro" offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, scheduled to open June. The basement operation, The Ranch Room, will open this winter. (308 E. Hopkins Ave.)

South Pacific: In Concert, July 22

A collaboration between Theatre Aspen and the Aspen Music Festival, South Pacific will include celebrated Broadway talents take the Benedict Music Tent stage for this iconic American classic, set on an island paradise during World War II. 

Theatre Aspen

Following their 2019 summer season, Theatre Aspen will launch the organization's inaugural one-person show festival, Solo Flights, in September 2019. The week-long festival will be presented at multiple venues in Aspen, including Theatre Aspen's Hurst Theatre, and include talkbacks as well as guest interview panels. 

W Aspen

Opening July 2019, the slope-side W Aspen will add 88 guest rooms and suites to Aspen's lodging. Fashioned as a posh mountain chalet, W Aspen puts a fresh and playful spin on the Alpine adventure.

Aspen Historical Society

Aspen Historical Society gears up for summer with new and exciting offerings for groups of all sizes! On exhibit at the Wheeler/Stallard Museum, “bayer & bauhaus: how design shaped aspen” is presented as part of the community-wide Bauhaus 100: Aspen celebrations. A new “Bauhaus Architectural Walking Tour” will supplement the exhibit, offered on Tuesdays and Friday or by appointment for large groups.
New this summer at Holden/Marolt Mining & Ranching Museum, car-free visitors will enjoy free museum admission! The must-see museum explores the industrial and agricultural history of the area and is located adjacent to a public bike path near the east entrance to Aspen. Bike or walk to visit the museum for free and don’t miss new guided tours of the site, offered monthly. Tuesdays through Saturdays choose from a variety of guided history tours around town, including the Wheeler Opera House, Hotel Jerome, iconic pubs, Aspen’s historic downtown and Victorian West End neighborhood, and the Smuggler mountain open space. Ashcroft and Independence Ghost Towns will open daily in mid-June, with docents on site from 9 am. to 5 pm. The two museums and two ghost towns are available as venue rentals for occasions of all kinds, from corporate retreats to group meetings to parties.

4th of July Parade Waiver


PARADE STARTING/STAGING: The parade will begin at 11:00am. Parade positioning is “first come, first serve” and line up begins no earlier than 10:00am. There is no entry fee and the parade is open to the public. All 5 lanes of Main Street, from Aspen Street to 2nd Street, will be closed to all traffic & designated for parade staging only. Power is not provided in staging area and remember generators do need gas.

PARADE ROUTE: The parade will start East on Main Street. It will turn South onto Hunter Street, then West onto Cooper Avenue. The parade will continue West on Cooper Avenue to Galena Street. At Galena it heads North for 2 blocks before turning West onto Hopkins Avenue. The parade will continue South on Mill then West on Hyman Avenue. Parade participants will be directed to disperse at Hyman and Monarch Street.  PARADE JUDGING: Parade judging will take place in front of the Hotel Jerome. Participants will be limited to 1 minute or less for any performances in front of the judges. Security will be onsite monitoring all entries to help prevent gaps in the parade route. Recognition will be awarded to the best entries in the following categories: 

Most Patriotic | Most Humorous | Best Animal | Best Music | Most Outrageous | Best Children’s  


  • Consumption of alcohol is prohibited during the parade.
  • Candy, favors, etc. should not be thrown from your float/vehicle during the parade. This is for the safety of the spectators and to prevent children from running out into the street. 
  • Water balloons will not be permitted. According to city ordinances, those caught throwing balloons will be removed from the parade and could face citations and/or arrests. 
  • All parade entries must be in “good taste” and will be allowed in the parade per the director’s discretion. 
  • Maximum height restriction for any float entry is 13’5”.


The undersigned organization has elected to participate in the Fourth of July parade sponsored by the City of Aspen and Aspen Chamber Resort Association (“ACRA”). In consideration for City of Aspen and ACRA allowing the undersigned to participate in the festivities, the undersigned has read, understood, and willingly agreed to the terms of this INSURANCE LIABILITY AGREEMENT and WAIVER AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT (collectively referred to herein as “RELEASE”).


                                    Participants are required to carry insurance adequate to cover any liability for damage, injury, economic loss, or other liability that may be incurred by individuals and/or organizations during the Fourth of July parade. All participants agree to carry such insurance, and also agree not to submit any claim against the insurance of City of Aspen, ACRA and/or any other sponsors of the parade, their officers, directors, agents, shareholders, employees, or anyone else directly or indirectly connected with production of the parade.


                                         The undersigned understands the potential dangers that could be encountered in participating in the Fourth of July parade. The dangers include, among other things, dangers relating to vehicular and pedestrian traffic; crowds of persons in close proximity to such traffic; animals that may react unpredictably in a parade environment; celebration and recreational activities; loud and unexpected noise; items that may be thrown to and from the crowd in connection with the parade; and other dangers traditionally associated with parades.  Understanding those risks, the undersigned for itself and for all persons who the undersigned invites or allows to participate in the parade with the undersigned, does hereby agree to indemnify, hold harmless, and release City of Aspen, ACRA and/or any other sponsors of the parade, their officers, directors, agents, shareholders, employees, and anyone else directly or indirectly connected with production of the parade from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or rights of action (including attorneys’ fees and costs) that are related to or are in any way connected with the undersigned’s participation in the parade. By signing this RELEASE, the undersigned intends to extinguish any and all liability and to indemnify against any loss on the part of City of Aspen, ACRA and/or any other sponsors of the parade, their officers, directors, agents, shareholders, employees, and anyone else directly or indirectly connected with production of the parade for any injury or damage of any nature (without regard to negligence or fault) to the undersigned and to all persons who the undersigned invites or allows to participate in the parade.

                                      The undersigned warrants and represents that it will not invite or allow any person to participate in the parade unless such person is bound to the terms of this RELEASE. To that end, the undersigned agrees that it shall take any steps necessary to secure agreement of such persons to the terms of this RELEASE, and that it shall be deemed a responsible person within the meaning of C.R.S. § 13-22-107 and § 19-1103(94) for all children who the undersigned invites or allows to participate in the parade.


   I am the official representative of the undersigned organization. On behalf of the organization, I acknowledge our responsibilities as set forth above. I also accept on behalf of the organization all of the terms and conditions of this
