Listed below are the requirements one must meet in order to get married in Aspen:

License
The license may be applied for during working hours of the Clerk's office weekdays, 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. Monday through Friday. The license is valid for 30 days and there is no waiting period. It may be used anywhere in the state of Colorado, and the fee is $30.

Application
Information requested includes: address, birth date, place of birth, social security number, parents' (or guardians') names and addresses. Also requested: if either applicant has been divorced, the date, place, and type of court; and if widowed, the date and place of death. Both the bride and groom must complete and sign the marriage license application form. Applicants DO NOT have to be residents of the state of Colorado.

Blood Test
Not required.

Age
Every applicant must provide proof of date of birth: allowable are driver's license, birth certificate, passport or baptismal certificate. The age requirements for bride and groom are the same: 18 and older, no parental consent required; 16 and 17 need the consent of both parents or guardian or parent who has legal custody or with whom the child is living or judicial approval; under the age of 16 need the consent of both parents or guardian or parent who has legal custody or with whom the child is living and judicial approval.

Witnesses
Witnesses are not required in the state of Colorado.

Ceremony
A marriage may be performed by a judge of a court of record, by a court magistrate, by a retired judge of a court, by a public official whose powers include solemnization recognized by any religious denomination or Indian nation or tribe. Clergy from out of state need not be registered in Colorado.

Prohibited Marriages
A couple may not marry when one of the parties is still married to another person. Also prohibited are marriages between ancestor and descendant, brother and sister, uncle and niece, aunt and nephew, whether the relationship is by half blood or whole blood.
