Popular in Scandinavian countries and pockets of the United States, skijoring is a sport that combines nordic skiing and dog sledding. This introduction will be led by Louisa Morrissey, a certified pet dog trainer (CPDT-KA), a past president of the Colorado Cross Country Ski Association, and a PSIA certified level 4 ski instructor. She and her dogs have been featured on the Weather Channel, Channel 2 Fox news, Channel 31 Fox news, Channel 7 news in Denver as well as in the Summit Daily News, the Crystal Valley Echo, and the Denver Post. This clinic will cover basic equipment, techniques to encourage your dog to pull, and how to skijor safely and responsibly on the trail. Equipment will be available for use at clinic or may be purchased at the Aspen Animal Shelter pet store. Nordic skiing experience a plus but beginner's welcome. $40 suggested donation, proceeds to benefit Friends of the Aspen Animal Shelter. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.
