FRIDAY, JULY 3

9 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Saturday Market

Hopkins Ave. and Hunter St.  Enjoy shopping this outdoor market featuring 70 vendors: fresh produce and meat, flowers, clothing, leather, CO wine, jewelry, and numerous artisan products.

7 - 9:30 p.m.   FREE Concert featuring TAKE THE WHEEL!
Kick-off the holiday weekend, join the Aspen Chamber on the Cooper Ave. Mall/Wagner Park Plaza for music & dancing. Free and open to the public.

SATURDAY, JULY 4

8 a.m.   Boogie's Diner Buddy 5 Mile Race 
Register before May 31st $30 per adult on-line only; after $40; day of $50.  Kids 16 and under $15.

9:15 a.m.   One-Mile Family/Canine Walk Race
$80 per family includes 2 adults & 2 children (each additional related child is $15).  $5 per dog.  Registration forms available at Boogie's Diner or on-line at www.buddyprogram.org or www.active.com.  The Buddy Program, 970-920-2130. 

10 a.m.   Opera Scenes Master Class, Wheeler Opera House
Edward Berkeley Aspen Opera Theatre Center Artist-Faculty. Tickets $40.

10 a.m.   Kids' Bicycle Decorating at Paepcke Park

10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.   Ninth Annual "America's Birthday Carnival"
Early Learning Center's kids' carnival in Paepcke Park featuring games, BBQ, silent auction, and bake sale. Early Learning Center, 970-920-9201.

Noon   Old Fashioned Fourth of July Parade

1 p.m.   AVSC 14th Annual Community Picnic
Koch Park.  BBQ, Kids Games, Live Entertainment and Beer Garden.  $8 for members, $10 for non-members, $5 for children under 10.  Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club, www.teamavsc.org, 970-205-5101.
 
1 p.m.   Music on The Mountain, top of Aspen Mountain

1:30 p.m.   Aspen Art Museum's 5th Annual Fourth of July Picnic
Aspen Art Museum.  Complimentary picnic, family activities, innovative parade float, by renowned artist Harrell Fletcher and exhibitions by contemporary artists.  Aspen Art Museum, www.aspenartmuseum.org, 970-925-8050.
                                      
4 p.m.   Free Fourth of July Concert - Aspen Music Festival Band

8 - 10:30 p.m.   "Dancing In The Streets" featuring BROADBAND

9:15 p.m.   Fireworks Extravaganza over Aspen Mountain (weather permitting)

The Aspen Chamber Resort Association is pleased to announce the 2008 winners of the 4th of July Parade:

The floats were judged by community members including Carol Hood, Mason & Morse; Don Sheeley, Aspen Activities Center; Rob Small, Aspen resident & longtime local; Ellen Falender, Stan Clauson Associates; Michelle Trane, Stay Aspen Snowmass.

The parade Grand Marshal was Pamela Cunningham.  Pam retired last month as the General Manager of the Aspen Alps after 39 years.  Pam recently became the 2nd recipient of the Molly Campbell Service Award for all she has done to promote service in our community.
